Dr. Samira Sanduruwan (BDS, University of Peradeniya) is a Dental Surgeon at Dhanthaja Dental Chamber with clinical experience in restorative, aesthetic, and surgical dentistry.

He Graduated from University of Peradeniya on 2017 and served at “Restorative department of Teaching Hospital Badulla” until 2025.He is currently working in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department of Teaching Hospital Kalubowila.

Dr. Samira’s primary clinical interests lie in aesthetic dentistry, with a particular focus on natural-looking veneers and advanced aesthetic composite build-ups.He is also well experienced in endodontic therapy, dental trauma management and minor oral surgeries.

He is committed to delivering patient-centered care, integrating contemporary dental techniques with meticulous treatment planning to achieve predictable, long-lasting, and aesthetically refined results.

Dr. Raveesha Marasinghe

Dr. Raveesha is a young dental surgeon who is looking after the general dental aspects of Danthaja Premium Dental Chambers. She had her primary education in C.W.W.Kannangara Central College, Hunumulla and her secondary education in Rathnaveli Balika Vidyalaya , Gampaha. She graduated from Faculty of Dental Sciences, University of Peradeniya in 2023 with second class honors. After completion of her internship , she joined Danthaja Premium Dental Chambers and we are delighted to have her with us.

Dr. Sachini Nimthara Perera

Dr. Sachini is a young dental surgeon who is looking after the general dental aspects of Danthaja Premium Dental Chambers. She had her primary education in St. John’s Girls’ School Panadura and her secondary education in Visakha Vidyalaya Co.05. She graduated from Faculty of Dental Sciences, University of Peradeniya in 2022 with second class honors. After completing her internship, she joined Danthaja Premium Dental Chambers as the resident Dental Surgeon.

Dr. Tharani Rajendra

Dr. Tharani has attended Hindu Ladies College, Wellawatte to complete her primary and secondary education. She obtained the Bachelor of Dental Surgery qualification from the Faculty of Dental Sciences, University of Peradeniya. Dr Tharani is well known as a kind-hearted, dedicated skilled dental surgeon among her colleagues. Dr Tharani, a well-experienced general dental practitioner enthusiastically joined hands with “Danthaja” to deliver premium services to our patients.

Dr. Yashodha Mendis

Dr. Yashodha is a young dental surgeon who is looking after the general dentistry aspects of Danthaja Premium Dental Chambers. She had her primary education in Devi Balika Vidyalaya. She graduated from the Faculty of Dental Sciences, University of Peradeniya in 2019. After completion of her internship, she joined Danthaja Premium Dental Chambers and we are delighted to have her with us.

Dr. Wathsala Samaraweera

Dr. Wathsala Samaraweera is a board-certified Consultant Orthodontist and is currently attached to General Hospital Matale.

She completed her primary education in St. Joseph’s Girls’ school Nugegoda and secondary education in Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Colombo. She graduated from Faculty of Dental Sciences, University of Peradeniya in 2009.

She obtained her MD in Orthodontics in Sri Lanka from the University of Colombo in 2017 and completed her overseas training in University of Malmo in Sweden. Then she joined Danthaja Premium Dental Chambers. Her special interest is on clear aligners.

Dr. Madhubhani Dissanayake

Dr Madhubhani is the beloved wife of Dr Lakmal Kulasekara, the founding director of Danthaja Pvt Ltd. She is the CEO of Danthaja Premium Dental Chambers, and practices as a dental surgeon. She had her primary education in Dharmapala Vidyalaya and secondary education in Visakha Vidyalaya. She graduated from the Faculty of Dental Sciences, University of Peradeniya in 2009 with second-class honours and a distinction in Orthodontics. Since then she had worked at the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery unit at the Teaching Hospital, Ragama.

Dr. Anushan Madushanka

Dr. Anushan Madushanka is a Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon with more than 16 years of experience in performing complex procedures within the maxillofacial region. He recently joined Danthaja’s team of OMF surgery consultants.
Dr. Madushanka completed his secondary education at Dharmaraja College, Kandy, and earned his Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the Faculty of Dental Sciences at the University of Peradeniya. He subsequently obtained an MD in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from the University of Colombo and received further clinical training at St. James’s Hospital, Dublin. He currently serves as Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon at the National Dental Hospital in Colombo.
His areas of expertise include cleft lip and palate surgery, facial aesthetic procedures, and oral and facial reconstruction surgeries. Dr. Madushanka’s appointment further strengthens Danthaja’s capacity to provide high-quality patient care in these specialised fields.

Dr. Manjula Herath

Dr. Manjula Herath is the lead Consultant in Oral & Maxillofacial surgery in Danthaja Premium Dental Chambers. He specializes in treating a variety of diseases and conditions that affect the mouth, jaw, head, neck, and face and with a special interest in minor oral surgery, Botox, fillers, cosmetic facial surgery and dental implants.

After his primary & secondary education at Dharmaraja College, Kandy he proceeded to complete the Bachelor of Dental Surgery Degree at the Faculty of Dental Sciences, University of Peradeniya. Subsequently, he completed MD in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from the University of Colombo and was trained at the Malmö University, Sweden, where he is presently reading for his PhD in cleft lip and palate to complete his clinical doctorate in odontology. Currently, he is the Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon at District General Hospital, Nuwara Eliya.

Dr. Deepal Nanayakkara

Dr. Deepal Nanayakkara is a board-certified Consultant Orthodontist, who is currently attached to General Hospital Nuwara-Eliya, and he is the lead consultant in orthodontics in Danthaja Premium Dental Chambers.

He completed his primary and secondary education at Richmond College, Galle. He graduated from the Faculty of Dental Sciences, University of Peradeniya in 2009 with a second class and a distinction in Orthodontics. After that, he was working as a temporary lecturer at the Department of Orthodontics at the Faculty of Dental Sciences, before he joined the Ministry of Health.

He obtained his MD in Orthodontics in Sri Lanka & in the same year, he obtained his MOrth RCS degree from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Subsequently, he completed his overseas training in the prestigious University of Edinburgh, Scotland.

Dr. Lakmal Kulasekara

Dr Lakmal Kulasekara is the founding Director of Danthaja [Pvt] ltd. and is the lead consultant in Restorative Dentistry in Danthaja Premium Dental Chambers. He is one of the leading young restorative consultants in the country. With primary education from the Uva College, Badulla and secondary education from Royal College, Colombo, he pursued his Bachelor of Dental Surgery at the Faculty of Dental Sciences, University of Peradeniya. Subsequently, he completed his postgraduate studies in Restorative dentistry and obtained his MD degree in 2016. He had overseas training at Royal London Hospital, UK and has completed numerous training courses in implantology and endodontics during his tenure as a specialist registrar in the UK.

Upon return, he embarked on a trailblazing career as a Consultant Restorative Dental Surgeon in the public sector (Provincial General Hospital Badulla) and private sector. He is currently a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Dental Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenapura, Sri Lanka.

Non-surgical Facial Aesthetics

Botox injections can also be used to slim the face by reducing the bulkiness of the jaw muscles. Furthermore, Botox can be used to treat TMJ disorders and other types of facial pain and headaches by relaxing certain stiffened facial and masticatory muscles. Because we utilize the finest and tiniest needles available, these injections are nearly painless.

Dermal Fillers – Natural substances are used to replace lost facial volume using fillers. Bone grafts (Sinus lifts and ridge augmentation)

Bone grafting techniques are used to replace bone that has been lost or reduced as a result of missing teeth or other facial diseases. At our cutting-edge surgical facilities at “Danthaja”, our oral surgeons

perform bone grafting treatments. Many patients who want dental implants must first undergo bone grafting to repair the bone beneath the dental arch. Previously, implant placement was impossible if there was too much bone loss, but breakthroughs in bone grafting techniques have enabled many people to have durable, permanent dental implants. To make the process as efficient and feasible, bone grafting techniques are sometimes performed concurrently with a tooth extraction.

There are several types of bone grafting techniques available, and depending on your condition, you may require one or more of the following:

Sinus lift – Will add bone to the area of the maxillary sinus so there is enough bone to place a dental implant in the upper canine and premolar area.
Socket preservation – After tooth extraction, socket preservations protect the bone around the empty tooth socket. To limit the number of treatments for the patient, the oral surgeon may put the bone transplant at the same time the tooth is pulled.
Ridge expansion – A ridge expansion increases the width of the alveolar ridge to make space for implants.
Major bone grafting – Major bone grafting and tissue regeneration treatments are utilized to repair jaw deformities caused by trauma, tumor surgery or birth malformations. For more complex treatments, bone is usually extracted from another place of the patient’s body. Some large bone grafting treatments necessitate an overnight stay in a hospital or care facility, but the majority of these procedures can be performed as outpatient procedures.

Orthognathic surgery (also known as corrective jaw surgery) encompasses any technique that corrects bite problems or skeletal problems with the upper or lower jaw targeted to improve facial esthetics. Hundreds of orthognathic surgical treatments have been performed by our specialists. The goal is to improve a person’s bite and facial harmony, as well as to increase the size of the airway.

Problems Of The Jaw Joint (Tmj Disorders)

The joint that your jaw makes with the skull is called “temporomandibular joint or TMJ”. TMJ disorders are a group of issues that affect your jaw joint. Our OMF surgeons are experts in TMJ disorders and can diagnose and treat your TMJ issues. A feeling of discomfort, tightness, pain, clicking or snapping sounds in your jaw, sudden jaw locking may suggest that you are suffering from an undiagnosed TMJ problem. Once diagnosed, the primary aim of TMJ treatment is to alleviate pain. TMJ issues are treatable, but it takes time and continuous care. Treatment will vary based on the severity and nature of your TMJ problems. In general, the most effective therapies are a combination of self-care measures and expert assistance.

Impacted Teeth (Canines)

When teeth become caught beneath the gums and remain buried, they are said to be impacted. “Danthaja” can assist you if you or your child has buried canines. We can collaborate with you, our orthodontist, and our surgeon to assist the canine in erupting into the child’s mouth. When canines become impacted, it is critical to treat them promptly without a delay. Longer the canines remain trapped beneath the gums, the more difficult it will be for other teeth to emerge naturally. Therefore, timely treatment of such impacted canines should not be deferred unless you are ready to accept more problems pertaining to surrounding teeth or jaw bone.

Removal of wisdom teeth (Impacted third molars)

Wisdom teeth, also known as third molars, are the most posterior teeth in the mouth. These teeth typically begin to erupt and become visible in the mouth between the ages of 17 and 25 years. They are usually the last teeth to develop and are located in the back of your mouth, behind your second molars. It is normal to experience pain, swelling, or pressure in the back of the mouth when wisdom teeth develop. However, not everyone experiences pain. Even with little to no pain, wisdom teeth can still cause health problems and should be extracted promptly. If there is enough space, wisdom teeth can sometimes entirely erupt through the gum line into the dental arch. When this happens, it is possible that the tooth does not need to be extracted, but this is uncommon. The majority of wisdom teeth will either partially erupt through the gums or remain trapped beneath the gums. This is referred to as impaction. When a wisdom tooth partially emerges through the gums (impacted third molar), it attracts food and microorganisms. Wisdom teeth, if left untreated, can cause the following problems and more:

Pain and swelling
Chronic bad breath, caused by infection
Cysts or tumors that form around an infected wisdom tooth
Jaw stiffness
Damage to surrounding bone and gum tissue

With an oral examination and x-rays of the mouth, our specialists can evaluate the position of the wisdom teeth and predict if there are present or future potential problems. Studies have shown that early evaluation and treatment result in a superior outcome for the patient. Patients are generally first evaluated in their mid-teenage years by their dentist, orthodontist, or by an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. At a consultation visit at “Danthaja”, our specialist will complete an oral examination and we will take necessary scans (or X-rays) of your mouth.

To optimize patient comfort, all outpatient surgery is performed under a suitable anesthetic. We will give the chosen anesthetic on the day of surgery. Once you are at ease, your oral surgeon will use forceps to remove any erupted wisdom teeth. Impacted teeth must be surgically removed. To accomplish this, your surgeon will make an incision in the gum tissue to gain access to the tooth, which will then be removed after bone removal and tooth sectioning. Stitches will be placed at the extraction sites as needed, and you will wait until the anesthetic wears off. You should avoid working or going to school on the day of surgery. Depending on the complexity of the treatment and your surgeon’s instructions, most patients are able to resume their normal routine within a few days of surgery.

Tooth extractions

For a variety of reasons, you and our doctors may determine that you require tooth extraction. A tooth might sometimes become so damaged that it cannot be saved. Because some teeth are extremely decayed (dental caries), they must be removed. Others may have extensive gum disease (periodontal disease) or be broken (fractured) in an unrepairable fashion. Discolouration of teeth due to various causes is a common dental problem, patients are faced with. Bleaching techniques – We use 10 % Carbamide peroxide in various forms in our bleaching techniques. This is the concentration approved to be used in the UK too, thus safety is guaranteed. Replacement of missing teeth

When a tooth is missing due to extraction or if it is missing due to developmental causes [Hypodontia], it can be replaced by a variety of options ranging from removable dentures to implant-retained prosthesis.

Removable dentures – There is a conventional acrylic denture option which is the cheapest. Then, we can offer Flexible and Metal denture options to depending on the affordability and clinical condition of the remaining teeth and the soft tissues.
Resin-Bonded Bridges – These are commonly known as adhesive bridges, as these are cemented to an adjacent tooth. These are extremely conservative, as it does not require any tooth preparation and these bridges provide excellent aesthetic outcomes too. These bridges are especially useful in young patients, whose teeth are more liable to cause problems if cut for conventional bridges. Conventional bridges – These bridges are retained by the capping of adjacent teeth. Because of the invasiveness of this treatment option, we at Danthaja preserve it for selected cases, where adhesive and implant options are not feasible. However, these bridges are time-tested and guaranteed to give excellent aesthetic outcomes.
Implant retained crowns, and bridges – If there is no significant contraindication for implants such as ongoing bisphosphonate therapy or relative contraindication such as uncontrolled diabetes mellitus, implant therapy is considered to be the best treatment option to replace missing teeth. We, at Danthaja use only the recognized implant brands with adequate literature for our patients. Our surgeons will use guided surgery techniques to optimize the 3- D position of the implant to achieve excellent aesthetic outcomes and functional stability.
Implant retained dentures – When someone has lost all the teeth, the standard of care to replace missing teeth is implant-supported dentures. This is relatively a less expensive treatment option when compared to implant-retained bridges and allows the freedom to clean the implants too. This is known to produce good chewing efficiency and offer good aesthetic outcomes.

Provision of crowns / onlays to grossly broken-down teeth

When a tooth breaks down due to Dental caries or trauma, it might need a crown or an onlay to preserve the remaining tooth material to keep it for aesthetic or functional purposes. Danthaja specialists will offer you various treatment options considering the remaining tooth substance.
